http://crunchbanglinux.org – helloi have installed crunchbang staler but i have a little problem with my nvidia graphic card.With the native driver all is ok With the proprietary Nvidia drivers (i have installed it with this post and with the script found on the official nvidia website) my xorg crash when gdm start, solve the problem by deleting the /etc/X11/xorg.conf (i don't have this file after a fresh install it's normal?) but my screen is in 1280*720 or without this driver it's 1400*900 i try to adjust it with grandr but i can't.my graphic cards is an 9600MGT01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVid (HowTos)

I'm using Sony Vaio VPCCW26FG (CW Series). It's graphic card is NVidia GeForce GT 330M. I use Ubuntu 10.04 32-bit as my operating system, dual boot with windows 7. Recently I installed new driver from NVidia 256.53, but looks like this driver is not so stable on my notebook. Sometimes the NVidia driver is successfully loaded, but sometimes its failed to load.

I've been trying to get my graphic card working under ubuntu and opensuse but to no avail.

First, i tried through additional drivers, but after installation it keeps saying "this driver is activated but not currently in use". That is 3D-accelerated proprietary graphics driver for NVIDIA cards.

I'm trying to configure my Nvidia card  running:nvidia-settings but I get the message:You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver.  Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server.My laptop has 2 cards:lspci|grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics

Today I performed a yum upgrade to F18 from F17. It went pretty smoothly I must say. The only problem I have had is getting the proprietary NVIDIA driver working. If I load the system without an 'xorg.conf' file it loads the default drivers just fine. When specifying the nvidia driver, however, the system will not load the display manager. Shell access is still available though.

I've upgraded successfully to version 12 from version 11. However, I've problems with my graphic card in the graphic interface.

I have a problem with this configuration:

Asus K55V, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Nvidia driver 304.51.

I have remove the nouveau driver with:

apt-get --purge remove xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

I installed the official nvidia driver (from www.nvidia.com) but when I reboot the PC the resolution of screen is only 640x480 and the monitor is resized.

Mo solution at this problem if i change the xorg.conf.

Hello, I have a Lenovo B560 laptop with Nvidia Geforce 310m graphic card and am using Xubuntu 11.10. I just managed to instal drivers from Nvidia website (290.10), but when I restart, Xubuntu splash appears but then it goes black console with some lines like stop blabla (ok), start blabla (ok) and then it does nothing.

I've a laptop with an Nvidia optimus graphic card (GEForce GT 630m) with Ubuntu 12.04 installed. After a while of looking around, I found that the optimus controller for linus is bumblebee, so I installed it.

I would like to know whether is possible to perform GPU calculations using this driver, or Should I install the Nvidia driver?

The driver from Nvidia website I'm install like that:./Nvidia-Linux-x86_64-310.19.run -a --opengl-libdir=/usr/lib --force-tls=newwhen I'm launching an Xorg the "Device not found" error appears.I have insert BusId PCI:1:0:0 line in my xorg.conf and it's launched.
