Problem with iscan under openSUSE 11.2 solved

http://forums.opensuse.org – I've encountered problems with the installation of the proprietery iscan-driver for Epson-Scanners. Until openSUSE 11.1 I never had problems. Under openSUSE 11.2 I installed iscan-proprietery-driver and iscan-firmware with Yast. When configuring the scanner with Yast, it always told me, that iscan is not installed. When I was looking for iscan with "whereis iscan" i just got the result for some files in /usr/share/iscan/ and for libraries in /usr/lib/. After a while I uninstalled everything, except the iscan-firmware. Then I downloaded the driver from the avast site: Download | AVASYS CORPORATION After this all the applications were installed on the right place. I just had to manually make a link in my Kmenu to /usr/bin/iscan and everything was working. I read in many other forums, that people have problems with this. That's why I write here about my solution. glenturret (Distributions)
