http://forums.fedoraforum.org – Hi everybody, I started my fedora journey from fedora core 3. Until this year i used to do a blind installation, not caring if my boot partition is bare partition or a lvm(overwriting previous version). This month I bought a new hard disk and started experiment wit lvm along with fedora10. Right now, I messed up my old fedora installation. Anybody lvm expert is their, please help. Initially my hard disk contained fedora10- with 1 VG and 3 LVs VolGroup00/LogVol00 for / VolGroup00/LogVol01 for /home VolGroup00/LogVol02 for swap PVs for VG0 /dev/sda4 Then I tried fedora installation onto new hard disk. It dint allow me to add new hard disk to VG00(as a PV) so I installed by creating new VG VolGroup01 VolGroup01/LogVol00 for / (newinstallation) VolGroup02/LogVol01 for swap But later. I decided to merge two VGS to single one. so i did like this in my oldfedora. #lvrename VolGroup01/LogVol00 VolGroup01/LogVol03 #lvrename VolGroup01/LogVol01 VolGroup01/LogVol04 #vgmerge VolGroup00 VolGroup01 VolGroup00/LogVol00 VolGroup00/LogVol01 VolGroup00/LogVol02 VolGroup00/LogVol03 VolGroup00/LogVol04 Everything went smoothly.. Then installed fedora10 agian to VolGroup00/LogVol03 / VolGroup00/LogVol03 as swap And finally, now i can boot my newfedora; which shows all four lvs in VG00 as listed above. But may old fedora is not booting, with kernel complaining that it cant find all the PVs for VG00, Missing pv with UID xxx Please note: I also have boot partitions, windows partition and other. I assume that I handled them properly. Sorry about my language.. Thanks in advance. -Shakthi (HowTos)
