http://askubuntu.com – I am using firefox 11.0 in ubuntu 12.04 64 bit OS and trying to play youtube video and it ask to install adobe flash player but when I try to install through the ubuntu software centre but I cannot find in the list by typing flash or adobe. I even tried the following command : sudo apt-get install adobe-flashplugin but it says that the package is missing or obsolete sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras but still it says that the packages were automatically installed and no longer required. When I installed 12.04 I also added Ubuntu-restricted-extras. I decided to try accessing flash content in Firefox without the Adobe plugin, and I wanted to experiment with streaming video directly with VLC, so I removed flashplugin-installer.

I have the ubuntu adobe flash player plugin from the software centre.. and By the way i am on ubuntu 10.10 since this computer can't handle the newer ubuntu.. :|. I'm wondering how do i do a clean install of the flash player plugin? I know to uninstall it but is there a profile folder that it is in that i should delete after the sudo apt-get remove of it?

Proprietary plugins can’t be included in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by default (due to some licensing incompatibilities with Adobe flash player or mp3 codecs).

Been having problems with flash, and I really need some help.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall in yast no luck. uninistalled again.

I downloaded and installed Adobe Flash 10 rpm direct from adobe. I shut down firefox and then restarted...went to youtube.... no luck. I get the annoying error:

In a fresh installed or upgraded Ubuntu, first thing to do is install flash plugin for web browser to enjoy flash videos. As a beginner, we use Ubuntu Software Center to search and install applications. In Ubuntu 11.10, the Ubuntu Software Center shows two: Adobe Flash Plugin 10 and Adobe Flash Plugin. I selected Adobe Flash Plugin 10.

Hi Today after regular system updates I received a following message when I opened a flash required webpage in Firefox "install latest version of adobe flash plugin"

I went to the software centre. It was showing as already installed. So I reinstalled it.
