Thanks mate, that seems to describe what's going on with me pretty well, especially the odd behaviour described here regarding being able to boot when the install usb is plugged in - this was the case until I updated my kernel (now at 3.8.3-2).Have you got any thoughts on why it works just fine if I select the UEFI shell (v1) from rEFInd, use the shell to select rEFInd, and select the entry i

Hey Guys! So, I just recently got a new laptop a few days ago and it came with Windows 8 (Inspiron 15z w/ i7 + nontouch (5523)) and therefore also a UEFI motherboard by default and I love it. I've had a nightmare of a time installing Arch with UEFI (Z77e-itx). At first I couldn't get Arch to boot after a few installs, then I managed to get a working system but my windows hard drive somehow managed to lose its boot-loader.
