I am having trouble connecting a Canon DSLR in CrunchBang. When I plug the camera in to the computer with the USB cable, nothing happens--it does not detect it like it does with a USB flash drive. I check the File Manager and no "camera/drive" is displayed. I tried gphoto2 in the terminal and it can detect the camera but has an error trying to connect to it.

I currently have a Kodak Easyshare digital M583 camera. After I got it, I discovered it causes all kinds of grief for Linux users, including all flavors 'buntu. Still, I got it to import the photos to my computer after I disabled the share option. The only problem has been that it imports them twice, once as blank dummy images, the other as the actual photographic images.
My phone is turned on for hours, then i was going to use my camera. When i tap on my camera icon , my camera just show a black screen and a notice saying "Camera failed", anybody here knows why?

Please guide, any device driver which can help me detect this camera.
As many have noticed Asus left the mount for a rear facing camera inside the nexus 7 even though they later took the camera out. My question is, what would it take to install a camera into that mount and get it to run? My guess is all it would take is the right camera and a connector that could be installed into the board beside the camera mount where the old connector was.
I'm running TWRP 2.4.1.0 on hboot 1.14 s-off. With any 4.2 ROM that I flash, the camera gives an error reading "can't connect to camera". I've tried factory reset, clearing app data, and installing the camera separately. I'm not sure what I need to do to get it working. I've tried flashing several AOKP, CM, and sense roms, and none fix the problem.
