I have a Fujitsu LH532 and when I installed ubuntu, the network menu didn't have "connect to hidden network" option nor "create a new network". I am not sure how to check my wireless card since when I enter "lspci -vvnn | grep 14e4" in the terminal nothing happens except it opens a new line.
i was trying to install RHEL6 on HP Z800 workstation, the installation is seems to be failing due to the following error kernel panic - not syncing: fatal exception.
i figured it out the nvidia quadro 2000 graphics card is causing the problem.
i have tried install with following commands
Boot: install nomodeset
still no luck.
appreciate any suggestions.
I'm currently trying to install 9.10 on my Toshiba Satellite T115-S110. Specs are as follows:
Code:
Video: Intel GMA 4500M
Wireless: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8187SE Wireless Lan Controller (rev 22)
Ethernet: Attansic Technology Corp. Atheros AR8132 / L1c Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (rev c0)
yes this problem might have been reported and solved for a lot of people on the Internet but i haven't found anyone who is running their Ubuntu 12.04 from a USB drive. i crashed my hard disk a long time ago and now am running Ubuntu from a USB drive since a few months. i have rebooted and booted a lot of times.
This is obviously some bug in 3.8.4.Does it print anything besides this "kernel panic" line?

Dear All,
I made a fresh xubuntu 9.10 installation on my laptop (amilo pa 3553 fujitsu-siemens,amd64 architecture).
The problem is that the network manager applet does not allow me to enable wireless. I have always had problems with my own wireless card, but I have also tried 2 usb wireless sticks: Belkin Wireless-G USB Adapter and D-link DWL-G122 (allegedly linux-friendly).
I insmod a kernel module on ARM platform and I get a kernel panic which causes this three errors to be printed to screen
Unhandled fault: external abort on non-linefetch (0x008)
Unhandled fault: imprecise external abort (0xc06)
Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt
What are those values in parenthesis ?
What does 3 mean It sounds like scheduling while atomic but there is
Glad to hear the problem solved. Marking the thread [SOLVED] for posterity. [by toracat]
Now, I use Debian 6.0.6 instead of Fedora 16/17. But I still sustain the problem of my wireless problem. If I enable/disable my laptop wireless device or my usb wifi adaptor, my laptop will panic. It seems like all the processes stop at that time and I have to restart my laptop directly.
P.S.
