http://www.linuxfoundation.org – printk(): Everyman’s debugging tool. I’ve been working lately on investigating more of the various approaches to help developers in debugging kernel problems. As part of that, I downloaded the kernel and investigate how many times prink() was called.I counted the number of direct calls. After doing “make cscope”I then did:cscope -k -L -3printk  |wc -lI got 48,810I then changed into the include directory and did:grep -re "#define.*printk" * >/tmp/macrosI found that there were about 67 macros that called printk().
