http://forums.opensuse.org – Hi I cant print in firefox 3.6 by cups. Whe i go to file print i see the printers. The file is send to the wright printer. Printer crasch. I look on internet en found a solution. Firefox can only print to file. I had to add gtk-printer-backbands ="lpr,file" in /etc/gtk-2.0 in the file gtkr. and restart cups When i co to the printers i don't see the printers but only lpr. When i klik print the page wil print but only to the defualt printer. Is there a solution the fix this error. Ore how can i give the commando lpr -p printername. I try this on command line I make 2 printqueue's to the same printer and when i give echo "text" | lpr -p printername it works How can i change the gtkr file to have the posibility to slect the printers (Distributions)

Hi all, I am able to connect to the cups server of my university and the printers are all displayed in the printing settings app. I can print a test page on any of the printers from there. But when i try to print any document,image etc no printer comes up on the screen.

But in OpenOffice there is only a 'Generic printer' which prints on my default printer, but without any of the fancy options of the driver.

I bought the epson xp-405 printer, and I am trying to succeed in printing via usb. I've followed these steps here but it doesn't seem to work. The thing is that when I am clicking print, even a simple txt file, the window that displays the printing dialog closes and simply nothing happens.

After this, I click, Printers (at the Dash) and then double click the printer.

I installed fedora 11 on this machine about 3 weeks ago. My printer, an HP Photosmart C4200, worked fine out of the box.

But I discover today that I cannot print anything. Not even a test page using CUPS (http://localhost:631/printers/). If I try to print something, it sits in the queue, but does not get printed.

I do not have a solution to your problem but I would suggest to point a browser to 127.0.0.1:631 and configure CUPS from that. You will inteact directly with CUPS and it is better for debugging. Now can you see your printer from there?

Hi all. I'd appreciate any help making my printer work. When I print a test page or a text file, nothing is printed. The job appears in the print status list and the stays there forever.

abveritasThanks for you help. The print and scanner stuff is installed. The printer was configured using localhost//631. I then confirmed with the system settings printer configuration tool. I then test printer sending in wp file to print . the file enters the printer applet shows processing then after a few seconds disappers No joy printing. This can be closed as solved.

Anyone have problems installing printers? I cannot install any printer since I get errors about cups.
