Hello all, my name is John and I am currently living in china but I'm from Virginia, I have just installed Ubuntu on my HP laptop and I am having a problem with the internet connection. At work there is a wireless connection that the computer will connect to with no problem but at home i have a Modem/Wireless route unit I'm guessing that's called a mini PPPOE?
Yesterday I installed Ubuntu 9.10 (first time in my life) and conigured internet with pppoeconf. I entered username, password and pressed "yes" and "ok" in the other windows. Anything was ok, internet worked good. I rebooted couple of times, internet was ok.
Hi,
I'm having a problem getting a PPPoE connection to work over a wireless network.
My internet provider uses PPPoE to authenticate over the wireless network. My USB wireless device can connect to the WAP, but the PPPoE is where I start having problems. If I try to set up the PPPoE it tries to connect on the eth port instead of the wlan.
I connect to internet through modem. Recently I tried to look into the existing configuration but due to mistake, probably started a new pppoe configuration and aborted the process before completion.
Hello everybody,
I'm currently using a PPPoe connection over Ethernet to connect to the Internet. I have configured it using the "pppoeconf" command. The process is quite straight fordward and I got Internet access easily (I set default options). It seemed to be working fine until I rebooted and got the "Waiting for network configuration" screen.
I have a username and a password for my broadband connection. Everytime when I installed a new Ubuntu on my old machine, I used command line way configuring pppoe network connection.
1. Open terminal from the dash home or press Ctrl+Alt+T, execute this command:
sudo pppoeconf
2. It starts looking for pppoe access concentrator on eth0…

Hello,
I am living in China currently and i have to use a pppoe connection to connect to the internet. My problem occurs when i normally connect to the internet using the:
sudo pon dsl-provider
This connects me for around 25 seconds to the internet and than just hangs up and stops the connection. Does anyone know why this occurs?
I had a company computer(ubuntu 12.04LTS) taken home.
My home use DSL and my company use LAN to connect to internet.
The computer works well in my company, but I have to config it after taken home.
I used pppoeconf to config the DSL successfully at home.
and use pon dsl-provider to connect to internet.
But after I take the computer back to company, I had to change back to LAN.
After Google it, I m
I just had Ubuntu installed on my computer. The wired internet connection requires username and password. I followed the steps that I saw on google, by using “sudo pppoeconf”, but it told me "Unable to complete PPPoE Discovery", what should I do?
