Hi all,
I'm running a Powerbook G4 (powerpc, 512 MB ram), and I've already successfully installed Ubuntu 10.04.
First post!! ):P
I am trying to install lubuntu onto an LG laptop model LS50e (quite old!) It has a Celeron M Processor 1.5GHz, 40GB hard drive and 238(?)MB RAM.
I boot from the CD and (after the gfxboot error), the "trial" screen comes up.
All is good so far..
When I press the "Install Lubuntu 12.10" button, the machine goes off and seems to try to install the program.
Recently I tried to install Lubuntu via a frugal install with Unetbootin. So, instead of using a USB or a CD to boot the LiveCD, I used Unetbootin to enable me to boot the LiveCD via my operating system's (Windows XP) default bootloader.
Ok, so I know what your thinking, "why cant people just google and find out about nomodeset?", right?
Well I did find out about nomodeset, but I'm not sure I'm using it correctly.
I have an old iBook G4 marked "A1134 copyright 2005". It's one of those white ibooks, whith a 1.42GHz processors and only 512 RAM. It still runs fine with osx, but my main goal is to get an all lubuntu laptop setup.
I recently installed Ubuntu 10.4 onto an older computer. Upon trying to boot off the live CD, my monitor would go "out of range" (screen would turn black and display a hardware error message "out of range").
I just installed 11.2 on an old Compaq Presario running 10.3
The boot menu shows
suse 11.2
failsafe
suse 10.3
I select 11.2 (the default) and hit return. I get a black
and white screen and a prompt "boot:"
I hit return and get the same boot menu. Hit return and now it
works ok. Strange. Once booted everything is fine.
Hello hello !
So after an install of Ubuntu, Lubuntu and a switch to pure Lubuntu, I take out the Boot CD.
Booting to CD is my 3rd boot option, my second is a hard disk with free space, the 1st is the harddisk option I use to boot.
Hello,
I just installed ubuntu from wubi and got it to boot the first time.
