[PPC] lubuntu, Quantal, no alsamixer or sound

http://ubuntuforums.org – On a freshly installed lubuntu quantal ppc I have no alsamixer in terminal. I have reinstalled alsa-utils package and ran the command "sudo rm /etc/modrpobe.d/blacklist.local.conf" which did the trick in 12.04. I still have no sound or audio icon on taskbar, but alsamixer showed up in terminal for a while with a message; "this sound device does not have any controls". Today after a reboot, alsamixer no longer shows in terminal and is back to; "cannot open mixer: No such file or directory" (yes, I typed in "alsamixer"). I posted this in the Ubuntu+1 se (Hardware)

I have Lubuntu 11.10 and I want to control volume on media keys. But I don't know how forced to work alsamixer with media keys.

I have already install:

Code: sudo apt-get install alsa-utils alsa-base alsa-tools And with obkey help on "XF86AudioRaiseVolume" key have a command "amixer -c 0 -q set Master 3%+ unmute".

Hey guys,

I did a clean install of 12.10, when I open Sound Settings in gnome the only device in the list is "Dummy Output", and sound is not working.

Sound worked fine out of the box in 12.04

I ran alsamixer, it says my card is "HDA Intel", and chip is "Realtek ALC880".

I've searched the sound threads, but haven't found a solution. OpenSUSE 11.2 64, Audigy 4 sound card, analog stereo speakers. There is no sound at startup, I have to use alsamixer and disable the "S/PDIF Optical Raw" setting, then sound works fine for the rest of my session. How do I save this? I've tried alsactl store as root, but it doesn't save it.

I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 with Gnome Classic interface on my ThinkPad laptop. My sound card is a Intel 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller.

Now, while using ubuntu, the gnome mixer (gnome-sound-applet) disappears randomly and the volume up/down buttons on my pc stop working.

I have recently (?mistakenly) purchased an Arcam rpac USB DAC for my Ubuntu (12.04) PC. I have torn out all but 3 of my hairs trying to get this to work and have had absolutely no luck so far.

I can see the Arcam USB audio device when i run aplay -l, however I cannot see it listed under the Sound settings.

Basically I have absolutely no sound. Nothing I have found in various forums has worked.

everytime i use alsamixer command i get only the "Master" volume control, and i see the card its using is "Pulseaudio" so i press f6 to select the sound card and i found that i have "default" and "HDA SIS966" so i wanted to know how can i change that "default" to the HDA SIS966?.
