I have disabled power management and un-installed gnome-screen-saver and themes.
But the screen keeps going black, and it don't go into power-save.
Exactly as if the screen-saver was present ....
Can it be xdg-utils ?
I have managed to stop screen saver with vlc. But it seems that when I am watching a movie on firefox the screen saver pops in again, in a few mins. How can I tell my ubuntu 12.04 that I am watching a movie in firefox and not to turn on the screen saver each time I do so?
I just installed 9.10 I've noticed a small problem. The screensaver works fine when my laptop is running on AC power, but when it runs on battery power, the screensaver doesn't appear when locking the screen or waiting for it to activate. The screen does fade to black, and locks, but no screensaver...just a black screen.
and how do i set the screen saver to be a single image
Screen locker is on a frenzy. No power saver enabled set to 10 minutes and still every 15 seconds it locks... just remove the lock or what?
Anyone got an idea?
Just installed Lubuntu on older laptop, works great, I'm very happy with it, but two questions:
1- how do I turn screen saver off? I have set the power settings to turn off screen after 10 minutes.
I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 and I can't seem to be able to disble the screen blanker. After maybe 5 minutes of inactivity, the screen blanks out and goes to power saving mode. I run awesome window manager and it happens there but also in Gnome Classic mode.
I was trying to figure out difference between
gnome-screensaver-command -a
and
gnome-screensaver-command -l
According to the gnome-screensaver-command man page...
-l, --lock Tells the running screensaver process to lock the screen immediately
-a, --activate Turn the screensaver on (blank the screen)
For me in both the cases it generated the login screen. Can s
I tried doing a system upgrade today and noticed I had broken dependencies because of a screen saver. I decided to uninstall gnome-screensaver manually, it said that gnome-shell depended on it, now cinnamon absolutely depends on cinnamon-screensaver.In my opinion, the screen saver should be an optional dependency.╭─╢00:11:18│130│root@p4:~╰┈┈┉ pacman -Syu:: Synchronizing package databases...
Hi all, while most of the pieces for the new Gnome are nicely falling in place and it is stabilising quickly, I find that screen saver and -locking is still a mess. It seems the timeouts I set in g-c-c are not respected.
