Hi I am using a Dell inspiron 7520, I've got a i7 2.1ghz CPU with an AMD Radeon HD 7730m working on switchable graphic with an intel HD 4000.
I am using the computer on Linux only so there's no Window factor coming into the problem.
I am currently running on my Intel HD 4000 to work on laptop. My battery before I suspend by shutting the lid is at 4 hours or a little higher.
Hi !
I've just bought a new laptop, an Asus G60JX-JX040V :
Intel Core i5 430M
4 GB RAM
Nvidia GTS 360M
It works great with Ubuntu, except that i can't suspend or hibernate.
For suspending : the screen becomes black, the hard driver powers off, but the laptop doesn't power off : there is a blinking white dash on a black screen ...
I run Ubuntu on my MBP 8,1 and the power management doesn't seem to work that great with it. In suspend, a full battery won't last more than a day and a half. When the computer is low on battery, it will just keep going until it runs out of power. I would at least like it to suspend and give me a little while to plug it back in.
What are the default settings for power management?
I've messed with it a little and I noticed my screen doesnt lock when I leave my computer inactive for a certain period of time.
Also the 2 options in the Power Management."
Ive looked around a bit and cant find anything recent on this so here goes.
Before i upgraded to 9.10 i could suspend using the hot key on my keyboard, i could not how ever use the hibernate hot key. I could also use the suspend AND hibernate buttons on the K menu and both worked fine.
Hi there,
I am running Ubuntu 9.04 on a Toshiba laptop and having trouble getting it to suspend when idle.
In system -> preferences -> power management, under the 'battery power' tab I have set it to 'put computer to sleep when inactive for 11 minutes'.
So, the computer suspends just fine. When I try to wake it up, the screen flickers a bit, and then there's a black screen with all kinds of awful colored lines all over it. The mouse works normally, but it seems to be the only thing that functions.
Hi,
I am using Lubuntu 12.10 64-bit on a new Toshiba Satellite L840D laptop. I am having a problem with keyboard shortcuts that use the function keys: F9 to decrease volume, Alt-F4 to close windows, etc. Most of the time, these shortcuts work fine. However, they stop working altogether whenever I either wake up from suspend or plug in the power cord.
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04, and my laptop* won't wake from sleep/suspend/hibernate. (Is sleep the same thing as suspend?) I'm not even sure which of these things it's doing. When I am done working for the day, I lock my screen (Control-Alt-L).
