I just install Ubuntu 12.04. I want to change the boot order of grub. Previous versions of grub.cfg I was able to change the permissions and the do a gedit. After reloading 12.04, I was able to change permissions for grub.cfg, but gedit will not let me save it. I am a little irritated that Ubuntu is suppose to be open source. However someone has chosen to lock one out of a file.
I have set up postfix on an aws linux 64 build using source code. It appears everything went fine with the install now I just need help with setting permissions to run my piped scripts.
pipe_command: execvp /opt/aws/ses/ses-send-email.pl: Permission denied)
In my attempt to get sendmail working using the permissions of the below worked
drwxr--r--.
I'm trying to configure Postfix on my server, but see the following error when trying to access the configuration module on Virtualmin:
Error while checking current Postfix configuration.
I'm trying to edit the hosts file on Windows Server 2008.
I right clicked on Notepad and Ran as Administrator, then opened the hosts file, but when I try to save it I get the following error message:
Cannot create the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file.
Make sure that the path and file name are correct.
Next I checked the permissions for Administrators on the hosts file.
Hi,
I want to automatically allow all users read execute or write permissions on everything created by a specific user, is this possible?
I am trying to save changes to a file in File Manager in the public_html\shop\css\ directory. I highlight the file and click edit, make my changes and click save and get permission denied. When I right-click on the file and click change permissions, it says user has write access. I don't understand why I am unable to edit this file.
Thank you
I made an ext3 partition but only the root has write permissions. I've got a lot of stuff to copy over so want to temporarily give my normal user write privileges and then change it back to read only once I'm done. The partition is /dev/sdc5. Not quite sure how to do this.
EDIT: on a side note, on F17 is it possible to log into the GUI as root (eg start an XFCE session as root)?
I'm trying to give a particular user superuser privileges, specifically the global write permissions that root hashe user in question must have these permissions without using sudo. It's a user that runs a service that is trying to write a file to a directory that it doesn't have write permissions on.
Good Afternoon
The scenario is :
Fedora 10 - latest update ( all but one from today with dependency problem - libnetfilter_conntrack.i386 )
Anyway.
The fedora boxes are authenticating to windows ad. works fine.
User Documents folders are being mounted via pam_mount. works fine.
