have you tried grepping your file system for hdmi or grepping the name of the card ?maybe some file somewhere, the hdmi card is set before other cards. remember any changes you make might need reboot.grep -r "hdmi" /etcor that /proc directory

I am going to link to this thread from the alsa wiki.Because with sound not working, what ppl do is aplay -D [their hdmi device] and no error message is displayed but no sound. Then they go to the wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ad … s_Not_Work and dont find help.Thx akb825 !gt

Also, it seems that the HDMI output is the only output I am able to control.

Hi,I've followed the wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI to get HDMI to work with my archlinux computer, dedicated to run XBMC. At first, I used the integrated graphic card with my AMD 3870 processor and its HDMI output and everything was perfect.I had a spare HD 6870 so I thought I had to put it inside rather than letting it rot.
Disable flat-volumes in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf.
