I am about to flash my 1st ROM on my S3 and I had made a nandroid of my phone a cpl months ago when it was running great, I was copying that nandroid to my PC prior to flashing the new ROM and notice it is quite small, about 21MB. Is that the complete nandroid or is it in the "blobs"?
Having successfully backed up two laptops, I turned to the main system and installed Deja Dup on that, and proceeded to backup my home folder( excluding various folders).
As I now wish to upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10, and then to 12.04 (following the route I took with the laptops) I want to save the backup folder to an 8G memory stick bought for the purpose.
Problem - the "Properties"
hi all
so i regularly backup my note 2 before I rom it with a new rom.
my question is, if i wanted to copy the cwm backup files off the phone for backup, do i just need the dated backup folder or do i also need the blobs folder if i wanted to do a restore. ?
My blobs folder was getting just insanely huge (i had maybe 5 backups taking up 8+GB of space, most of them very similar). I got so frustrated, I just went and deleted all the backups from Rom Manager. I then rebooted into recovery (CWM 6.0.1.0) and performed a "free up space" for my nandroids. However, my blobs folder is still almost 4GB. Whats going on here?
I have the folder "Backup yzT Jan-01-2013". I've made also a script for do a backup everyday.
The problem I'm facing is how to rename the folder day by day according to date? Get the new name is easy, it's just
"/home/yzT/Backup yzT `date '+%b-%d-%Y'`"
However how can I select the folder "Backup yzT Jan-01-2013" exactly? Because every day it will be different.
I just installed CWM (6.0.1.2) and made my 1st Nandroid on this phone. I wanted to store it on my PC so I navigated to the backup folder and there were 4 Nandroids, all with 1970 dates. I'm unsure which one is the one I just created, can I delete all 4 Folders and then make another Nandroid and have it be the only folder in backups?
I had allot of help with the below script, and its been a long time since i've done anything with shell scripts so I am having some trouble.
I am trying to zip the trace folder after it is copied and dated but i'm unsure of how to tell it to zip this new folder without knowing what it will be named.
The script works fine as it is now but when it goes to remove the oldest backup it takes fore
Hello, I'm pretty new to Linux and I've settled with Fedora over the last few months. Now that I've determined my distro, I'd like to get everything backed-up. I decided I like Spideroak over several others.
I would like to fully backup my systems so that upon a new install, I'd be able to get my settings back for programs and services.
Alright well today i was going to flash Black Plague's Kernal over RN2 and compare battery life. After I made a backup I changed the name of the backup to RN2 and apparently changing backup folder names makes it so the backup is impossible... this is common knowledge but i didn't know this.
Any other restrictions to backups? (change folder areas, move whole folder to computer, etc.?)
