http://ubuntuforums.org – Right now, as far as I'M concerned, both Wine and POL don't work. They're just GUIs that doesn't do anything. As I'm not really an idiot (I think) I know that the former statement is untrue, but what really IS true, is that I have no idea what I'm doing, when it comes to emulating WIN-software through wine. Oh well, now to the case. I recently found my old copy of Jane's "688 Hunter/Killer" which is major nostalgia for me. I usually use 10.04, and I play a game using WINE that works fine. I thought I'd try it on 12.04, but a patch won't install. WINE errors saying "Internal errors - Invalid parameters received".

Hello, 3 problems with Wine: 1. "$ wine --version" returns 1.5.20. I'm trying to install v1.5.28 from the PPA, though "$ sudo apt-get install wine1.5" states that "wine 1.5 is already installed". Hello, arch noob here.BF2 is patched up to 1.41 with no CD, but when I run it through Play On Linux (wine 1.1.42) or through my install of wine (wine 1.5) it just gives and error and crashes.  When I try without a no-CD patch it will ask for a CD and not run.I am currently using proprietary nvidia drivers.Terminal output:[gordon@Gordon-Arch Battlefield 2]$ wine --version wine-1.5.13 [gordon@G

Hey all, my 12.04 install gets more and more stable every day I update it, and most of my annoying problems have disappeared.

I'm trying to install Wine, as I want to try and get SAPGui working under it (school gives me a Windows installer and an OS X program...nothing for linux).

I wanna wine a windows .exe program. first time i wine it ,i get an error message :"mfc42.dll cant be found" then i install it with winetricks i wine it again, this time i get
