SO I installed Ubuntu 12.04 and I am in love with Ubuntu all over again. The only thing I do not understand is why Ubuntu went back to rhythmbox?
Banshee is an open-source media player, originally called Sonance until 2005[2]. Built upon Mono and Gtk#, it uses the Helix and GStreamer multimedia platform for encoding and decoding various media formats, including Ogg Vorbis, MP3 and FLAC.
I kind of have two questions, that tie into each other.
I want to set Banshee as the default music player. It seems simple enough. Go to "systems settings > Details > Default Applications" and change "Music"from "Rhythmbox" to "Banshee". But, this did not work. How do I make this work?
How do I uninstall Rhythmbox?

Occasionally listening to music files or watching videos with lightweight media apps the likes of Gzine, Alsaplayer or Gnome Player is fine if you are not ultra demanding of your listening environment. If you do not fall into that category, Banshee is a much better multimedia option.
Hi everyone,
I've searched everywhere to see if others had the same problem (both forums and general internet search). No luck.
I can run Banshee fine, import an iTunes music library, and play music. But when I plug in my iPod (Nano G5), instead of detecting the iPod, Banshee freezes. Now Ubuntu itself detects the iPod just fine.
