I have virtualbox running on a Windows 2008 server, with a guest running ubuntu 10.04. The ubuntu guest is given a static IP of 192.168.1.4, which also has openssh installed. The guest has bridged network setup, I can ping 192.168.1.4 from any machine in the LAN, the ubuntu guest can also access the LAN. However, when I try to PuTTY into the ubuntu machine, I always get "connection refused".
I want to setup a test database on a vm for development purposes but I cannot connect to the server via the network.
I've got Ubuntu 12.04vm installed on 12.04 host in Virtualbox 4.2.4 set to
- Bridged network mode
- Promiscuous Allow All
When I try to ping the virtual guest from any network client I get the expected result.
Aim: To be able to access RStudio Server page from other internal PCs (all
windows)
I barely know linux and everything I've done so far has been due to walkthroughs and the helpful responses to questions on this site.
heya,
Im trying to setup a virtual lab with VirtualBox, using 2 Ubuntu guests and 1 XP.
Each of the guests are attached to the VirtualBox internal network.
I have a virtual development server running Ubuntu Server set up with Apache and running under VirtualBox on a Mac (host OS is OSX 10.8.1). I have a bridged adapter configured in an attempt to make it visible from my test devices (iPhone and Android) inside the network.
When I connect to the server from the "real" machine that's running it, everything's fine - webpages can be loaded, etc.
I have a Windows7 guest running in a VirtualBox hosted by Precise (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS). In the settings of the virtual machine I have activated the 'Remote Display' (Enable Server) with default settings (server port, authentication method). The network of the guest is attached to NAT.
I try to use Remmina to connect from the host to the guest.

Is anyone having trouble installing Guest Additions on VirtualBox 4.2.10? I want to install Fedora 18 (64bit) Guest on an Ubuntu Host and so far so good, except for the Guest Additions. Here is feedback from Fedora OS:
