PHP FTP Full backup Performance [closed]

http://stackoverflow.com – I know there's a few topics on this, but none referring back to performance. I'm creating a PHP job that basically copies an entire directory to another server / zips / passes it to archive. In PHP we have a few options for FTP access, I think the best so far was utilizing the straight PHP FTP extension. However my question retains to the performance of utilizing PHP FTP vs actually executing a system-based FTP call to copy an entire directly (i.e. ftp ftp://x:[email protected] | cmds). What works better, faster, simpler, makes more sense? The goal here would be as little code as possible with t (HowTos)
