googling around i've found that lot's of forum threads suggest to use phonon xine backend to avoid amarok skips tracks
amarok can play with phonon gstreamer backend without any additional suse repository using the gstreamer "good" plugins (and good extras, but not sure that's mandatory...) in addition to the fluendo mp3 decoder
I have Fedora 17 KDE.
I used the gstreamer backend for Phonon, but it always makes my media players stop playing when moving to the next track and sometimes in the middle of playing a track.
Hello
After a recent update I've been having sound distortion issues streaming audio files in my browser, or playing them in Amarok. However, if I play the same file in VLC the distortion goes away.
It is hard to describe the distorted sound, it is as if another layer has been added to the audio.
Using 11.3 x86_64, when I play music off of any audio CD, there is a 'hiccup' or 'stutter' in the audio every few seconds while playback continues. This stutter sounds like the sound is just dropping out, or the playback is pausing, very briefly. This problem happens every time using Amarok, KsCD, Kaffeine. Files in various formats playback smoothly from an external hard drive.

Hi, how do I get Amarok to stop using KDEWallet. It's really annoying, this only happened after an update. I just want to be able to click on Amarok and play my tunes.
Cheers.
after installing additional driver of AMD ATI Readon 4000 there is no audio playback in Amarok.
whats setting going wrong ? as i open amarok dialog box opens of Kmix and ask me to switch on Built in Analog audio. i did that as well still there is no Audio playback in amarok.
i can play music on cleamentine and dragon player.
Amarok is my fav player.
I am having a problem with Amarok 1.4.10 in openSUSE 11.1 that was not in 10.3. When Amarok is playing, the hard drive is in constant use. If something else, like a find, runs Amarok starts skipping. There is also a skip when ever I un-pause play. I dont see anything in Amarok config to increase or use a memory cache.
Thanks in advance.
Dave
Linux provides more than one way to listen to music collections. The bare-bones solution is to click on a music file from within a file manager app. The high-end approach is to playback music with Amarok. Amarok is a sound-system-independent audio player with a flexible interface that uses a browser-like design.
