On the phone, speed test I get about 4 to 5 mbps down, and 2 mbps up.
When I tether it to the computer through the USB cable, it is extremely slow.
So slow I can only get half the page before it times out, and other pages never load.
I use ivendor's cm9 (RC1 currently) with working USB tethering, But there is a little bug. Steps to reproduce:
1. Connect phone to laptop with USB cable.
2. Check USB tethering checkbox in settings (it's inactive without cable)
Now usb0 interfaces appear on phone and my linux laptop and I have an internet via phone on computer.
I updated to jelly bean and my tethering services stopped working, when i try to use it just automatically turn off and says "mobile data is not available or invalid sim" , i tried rooting the phone and installed titanium backup and root explorer but i cant find the tethering manager...
Been testing my new phone (HTC Wildfire S, Android 2.3.5) and found USB tethering with wifi works fine but 3G does not. With 3G tethering I can connect but no data is transferred. I suspect this is an issue with the phone rather than #! but wanted to check here anyway.Anyone experienced this or have ideas?
I recently upgraded from an LG Optimus One phone to a Galaxy Nexus. On my Optimus One, USB tethering worked flawlessly. However, I flashed tons of different ROMs to find the ones that worked better than others. Some didn't work at all. Some were flaky.
I'm currently using AOSPA 4.2.2 PARANOIDANDROID 3.5 (May15) α5 with 3.0.75+-RUBIK-AK-r30 kernel. Wi-Fi tethering works perfectly.
The only way to connect my phone and Nexus 7 via bluetooth is to have Bluetooth Tethering enabled under Settings > More... > Tethering & portable hotspot. But when I disable BT on my phone and then turn it back on, this setting is always turned off. I'd like to keep it enabled if possible. Can it be done?
Not my tip, but it's so cool I have to share it. A recent episode of HPR describes USB tethering on Android, which I've just tried and am using now to post this. My ongoing difficulties with wireless (Broadcom) resulted in me managing to disable wireless completely. USB tethering "solved" this though, as I can connect via my phone now.
Hi, I recently got my hands on sprints LG Viper 4G LTE where I'm having issues with tethering.
I've tried foxfi including the newest version, where I was able to connect with my computer, but I was unable to receive and transmit any data. I even tried wifi-thering where I was unable to locate the phone on my computer.
