Performance tweaks for 12.10

http://askubuntu.com – I am running 12.10 on a Two year old Sony Vaio laptop (i7 with 8gb ram and ssd disk) Overall performance nothing like as snappy as I would have expected. I am using the Nvidia proprietary driver. Might that impact performance? Also fans on the laptop seem to be thrahing hard all the time. Otherwise any quick tweaks that can be applied to make the machine fizz along a bit faster would be appreciated. Thanks Matthew (HowTos)

I've just got a 101 G9 Turbo and just SDE/rooted it, but there seems to be little in the way of performance tweaks.

I've got an LG Optimus 2X phone and theres all sorts of tweaks in the init.d folder and was woundering if theres anything we can do to the G9 to give a bit more performance?

SONY Vaio VPCZ112GX is a powerful notebook powered by Intel Core i5 processor series. It was built using a 32 nm process for higher efficiency.  The cores are based on the Nehalem microarchitecture, and is a good processor for multi-tasking on laptops.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any other useful tips on improving the performance of the TFI?

I've already done the tweaks in the "[HOW-TO] Some tweaks to sweeten your life with the Infinity a little" which did help somewhat, but this thing is still a bit sluggish.

I bought a Prime back in Feb. Performance wise it wasn't too bad other than all the GPS/wifi/bluetooth issues.
