The showdown between online money transfer and India continues. About two weeks ago, PayPal suddenly stopped transfer of money to individuals using India Banks. After PayPal’s suspending of transfer to Indian banks, PayPal wrote in their blog that they are suspending the services to respond to enquiries from the Indian regulators.
A few days ago, PayPal announced that they will be resuming their operations in India. They pointed out that publishers will need to provide the Importer Exporter Code (IEC) withdraw money from their PayPal account.
Yes, it is secure - I've used it for many years. In order to get paid, you will have to link it to your bank account. This means that you must treat it very securely, just as you would with online banking.
PayPal will stop allowing personal payments in Singapore on February 20.
For testing on my pre-live site, I'd like to allow only my own IPs and PayPal Sandbox.
For production, I'd like to allow only PayPal to my IPN listener.
I can restrict in .htaccess to my IPs, but including paypal.com causes 403 in the IPN generator on the SandBox.
I understand this may be a security issue for PayPal, but I'd like it anyway if possible.

I notice on the Donation page that LQ makes use of PayPal to handle donations made to LQ. Personally, I have never liked nor used PayPal. Recent events have made PayPal even less attractive. I am wondering if it might not be time to consider some less malevolent alternatives. I feel uncomfortable donating my time to a site the uses PayPal.

I did a "Direct Wire Transfer" with paypal for an online purchase last week, and it still hasn't shown up on my bank's online system. How long does it normally take for it to show up as a charge?
