I am using Ubuntu 11.10 which was working fine till today.
If I try to login using one of my user accounts it directs me back to the login screen, which is followed by a black screen.
I am sure the password I enter is correct because if the password is wrong it prompts "Invalid Password".
On the other hand I am able to login using a root or guest account.
I have been using Ubuntu 12.04 for a few months now, but have now come across a problem that I can't get past.
I am stuck at the log on screen: I enter my password but a black screen flashes up and the log on prompt reappears.
I tried using the terminal and I actually have managed to login- but not using the main log on screen. I can't get my desktop active as the log on prompt is there.
Hi
This question is usually responded to with "Liveuser does not need a password".
Well believe it or not in some configuration it is not possible to go passed the login screen of Fedora 11 or 12 KDE.
If you just hit enter which should work, it goes black with a blue flasy thing and then back to the login screen.
Whenever i start my inspiron 910, it imediatly prompts "Enter Password." I have two of them that my sisters gave me when I didnt have a computer. But these arent being used, since I have a computer now, and i just pulled them out, to see if they still worked. Well both of them, as soon as I press the power button, its a black screen with a little blue box asking for a password which i dont know.
(Bear with me, linux-noob here)
Using Ubuntu 12.04 on a fresh install. I had gone into the User Accounts, unlocked, set no password with auto-login. Also went to Passwords, changed pass on the default keyring to be blank and selected Use Un-Safe Storage.
Ok..I'll explain what I did wrong, and then what I did to fix, which led me to my current dilemma.
I thought I was going to be a smartypants and change my password to something really easy. Well, I goofed it up. When I tried to log on, I couldn't.
So I accessed the root shell to change password, but encountered " change password authentication token manipulation error".
I have an encrypted drive and after upgrading to 12.04 I have found that about 30% of the time when I start up, ubuntu properly displays the text prompt for me to enter my password to unencrypt the drive. The rest of the time it lands at the prompt but the screen is blank and my external monitor registers as having no input.
When I start up Ubuntu 12.10 I see the login screen. I have my account and a guest account as the choices. When I choose my account by clicking on it, I automatically get logged in with out being required to enter my password.
I want to password protect my account so when someone clicks my account, they have to enter the proper password to get in.
Hi
The login screen does not accept the password for users
Only the password for Root
The problem is not in the command line, but check the password in the screen
I have tried to change the password from the root and it is still the problem
what i can do?
