Dear Installation & Upgrades Board
A couple of days ago when Precise came out I tried to perform an upgrade from Oneiric to Precise by booting from a Precise install disk and selecting "upgrade" in the installation GUI.
I am having little problem here.:( I partitioned my sdcard with cwm with 1gb ext4 partition and 256mb of swap partition. it said done succesfully.but when i crosschecked in minitool partition wizard it showd partition as ext3. now when link2sd asks me which partition it is then what should i do. i want to use as ext4 bcz i read that it is the best among ext2 3 4 (tell me if its not).
I remember for choice of swap partition, we should use (swap > 2xRAM) at least.Of course it deprecated , because max of computer's ram is very high. kernel support it.
My question: i remember each partition of swap just support 2G maximum, it means if you have 2G ram you should create 2 partition of 2G swap. Did kernel solve it ? it mean can i create 4G swap for one partition?
I used the 12.04 live cd to install Ubuntu over my Windows 7 partition and deleted everything so I just have Ubuntu on my laptop. But since during the installer I chose the simple "erase entire disk" option, did the installer create a swap partition or is that something I should've done with the "something else" option? Btw I have 6GB of RAM
Hello all,
When I installed 12.04 Precise 64bit, I created a 16Gb swap partition. I know, I'm an idiot! After months of use, I never once saw the swap use more that about 300kb of hd space. Because of this, I shrunk the swap partition down to 4Gb. I didn't want to eliminate it altogether as I've read this can cause problems.
I have an issue, not necessarily a problem. I have a disk, which had Ubuntu 11.04, a swap, a big NTFS and some free space. When 11.10 came out, I did a fresh install and recently I've deleted the 11.04 partition since I didn't needed it anymore. I've noticed that my partition table is a little bit messy.
To add a swap partition in hard disk /dev/hdb2, use the following steps:
Hello folks and Happy New Year.I have noticed that the Swap usage in my conky no longer says 0B /7.8 GiB but now shows 0B /0B.I can mount my swap partition via GParted and turn it on, but when I reboot it reverts back to 0B /0B.Something went awry. I don't think I need all that swap, but not seeing the swap partition registering is well...annoying.Any suggestions are w
I accidentally deleted my swap partition via gparted.
(I'm still logged in the system so restoring should be easier) Can someone help me please?
