Fedora 17 appears to have 2 broken packages in it - according to Synaptic Package Manager. I've sourced Fedora 17 from a Linux Format live DVD (LXF 160) - and found the broken packages when I couldn't get LibreOffice 3.5.7 to function.
I just discovered this awesome little app in the debian repos called vrms (Virtual Richarm M. Stallman). As its name suggests it "will analyze the set of currently-installed packages on a Debian-based system, and report all of the packages from the non-free and contrib trees which are currently installed" (from the man page).
Hi. When you install a package, for example vlc, YaST will install some other packages "to resolve dependencies", right? But if you then want to uninstall vlc, the automatic installed packages that came with the installation wont be marked to be deleted. Correct me if I'm wrong :) But is this something I should worry about and try to find the other packages and delete them to?
When installing CentOS (6.2), it installs a whole bunch of packages, but the installation is often very fast, it's hard to note the names of the packages. I have a couple of questions:
1) I'm guessing I could wait for the entire installation to complete and then query for the list of installed packages on the system. How do I do that?
Hi,
I am using Fedora 17 LXDE spin. Just a few minutes ago I typed this command in a terminal as root and it took some time to download and install all the Perl related packages. There were more than 1000 packages as I remember and the total size of the download was also nearly 300 MB.
Im learning puppet system and now need to do next task.
So we have few servers with same OS (Altlinux p6,t6) - puppet-agents and have puppet-master.
On agents installed some packages, eg. 200 packages on first, 300 on second ....
But necessary only 180 installed.
Is there some tool to show me all packages I've installed that are not part of the set of packages that comes with a "clean" install?
I'm just cleaning out packages I don't use any more prior to upgrading from F15 to F16 (the computer has passed hands a number of times and is slowly accumulating unused packages).
I need to clean my system and redo it all. Is there any easy way to get rid of every single package I've installed (to a point where it's CentOS minimal)? I can't remember all of the packages and
yum list installed
pulls up a list of 1,000s of packages.
Thanks!
Edit: I cannot reinstall CentOS.
