Hello all,
Since i've came on linux, i know that XFCE is my favorite desktop environment. I really love this simplicity, this speed etc.
But their is one thing poisoning my life, the absence if proxy manager...
I know there is a command to set a proxy (export http_proxy=<proxy>:<port>).
How do I setup the Smart Package Manager to work win fc17 with my repositories ? Although PackageKit seems good, it actually freezes up often in the Add/Remove Software and Update Software applications. I neeed something more reliable than that as a package manager for fc17.

If i set the new proxy address in firefox it just does not connect.

I have to use a proxy server which requires authentication. So, I need to update the apt.conf file to include my proxy settings. All fine. What I need is to check that the configuration is correct so that when I try apt-get update, I'll connect to the relevant repositories, etc.
Is there a way to check this without downloading anything to the PC (without update, install, upgrade, etc.)?
Hi everyone, I have a problem with Rom Manager:
on any rom/kernel I tried it so far, Rom Manager could not make a Backup.
Well, all I ever wanted was to download and install an application from the terminal.
And to my surprise I just can't I tried to reset proxy of the terminal by some commands but it doesn't happen and automatically switches back to this proxy 172.16.0.16 (which apparently was my college proxy). I checked in my system settings too..
