http://forums.opensuse.org – I find it interesting how sometimes we over look the simple. I was working on my laptop and desktop this morning. I turned off my desktop computer, since I was leaving. I came back to my laptop and had an address to look up. Now my wireless stopped working but recognized my network; it kept asking for my password. , I type in my password-no connection. I try again, no luck. Restart, no luck. Re-update firmware no luck. My laptop battery dies, so I go into the office to connect to the Ethernet. No connection. At first I think something is wrong with my cards, but at the same time I look up to realize I turned off the router when I turned the other computer off. A great brain surgeon said to the staff, who were under maximum stress because no mistakes could be made "slow down we are in a hurry." Plainly I say, sometimes we overlook the simple. I am new to Ubuntu and am having some problems. I closed the laptop lid to sleep the computer. When I opened the lid to open it, it did not wake up so I turned the computer off. When I turned the computer back on, it said that networking was disabled and it showed the wrong time. Now I am getting a Window asking me to enter a password to unlock a keyring.

I have had Crunchbang Statler installed for a few weeks now, with wireless internet working out of the box without any problem (despite the wireless card on this laptop being an old Broadcom  BCM4309). However, today I turned on the laptop and it cannot find or connect to any wireless network.

Title pretty much explains what I want to do. I have F12 dual booted on both my laptop and desktop. Laptop is 64-bit F12, desktop is 32-bit. I'm trying to test my remote desktop settings between the two, just to see if it works, but it won't let me connect.

I have a laptop running ubuntu with a wireless internet connection and ip masquerading through the ethernet port, and a desktop running debian which connects to the internet through the laptop. I installed Ubuntu 11.10 recently. After the first bootup the computer freezes so I have to force-quit my computer.

Then I turned on my computer after that. I tried connecting to the internet. My (and my neighbor's) wireless networks shown up, but no matter how many times I tried, I can't connect to my home network. I checked the password and the other laptop's internet works (a MacBookPro).

Hello Friends, I am new in linux , When i installed Fedora 16 in my system , i configured the DSL connection and it was working fine

it was working fine . but when i restart the system than i am not able to connect to Internet again . I tried to connect it using the GUI tool. I restart the network service .

I'm setting up an old computer with ubuntu server 12.04. I wiped the drive and went through the installation fine but afterwards the ethernet would not work. It's physically connected to the router and the card is recognized by lspci(SiS 900) but it won't connect at all. I've plugged in and installed the drivers for a wifi adapter and it's worked with the same router.

Hello all, my name is John and I am currently living in china but I'm from Virginia, I have just installed Ubuntu on my HP laptop and I am having a problem with the internet connection. At work there is a wireless connection that the computer will connect to with no problem but at home i have a Modem/Wireless route unit I'm guessing that's called a mini PPPOE?

I'm using Maverick and since yesterday, my wireless hasn't been working. It was working before with Maverick and I don't recall doing any updates that might have changed wireless configurations.

By "doesn't work" I mean it doesn't recognizes any networks, as if the wireless was turned off (there's this button on laptops, but it's turned on).
