http://ubuntuforums.org – I want to buy a webcam for my desktop, which is currently running 9.04. I have an Nvidia GPU and an AMD QUAD core. Anways, I want to buy a webcam that takes high resolution video and photos and is fully compatible with Ubuntu, with minimal fooling around with drivers. I have a maximum of $90 to spend, to don't link anything too expensive. Thanks in advance. P.S. I live in canada. (Hardware)

I got a laptop (core 2 duo, 2 GB ram) without a webcam and using Ubuntu v. 12.10 OS. As I wish to make skype video calls with my Family I wish to buy a webcam. My budget is low, so I can't spent a lot on it. As I haven't found any webcam suggestions for the Ubuntu 12.10 OS, but only for earlier OS versions, could you suggest me a webcam type(s) that I could use for skype v.

hi everyone,

i have a problem with my vaio fz-21e. a few months ago i installed on it ubutnu 8.10, after installing everything was working perfectly except the ricoh integrated webcam. after some researchs on internet i figured out that the problem concerned the drivers but after some trys i solved the problem.

I have a Logitech C510 webcam connected to my desktop running 64-bit Ubuntu 11.10, but it doesn't seem to be working when I run Cheese and Skype. After doing some search, it seems this webcam should just work out of the box. However, Cheese and Skype don't seem to work with it.

I have a Dell XPS M1530 that originally came with Ubuntu (back in 2006 or so). The Webcam has always worked out of the box in Cheese, Skype, etc. I don't use it regularly, but I had tested it before. I recently tried it after upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04, and I'm getting a black screen in every application I try.

I am using Ubuntu 11.10, and my webcam seems to be giving problems. The actual webcam works (at least when I use Cheese), when I click webcam I can see myself in it. However when I try video chatting with someone on gmail they cannot see me. It gives them a black screen. But I can see myself and them.

I'm running the latest version of Ubuntu, and I have a Dell Sp2009wfd monitor with built in microphone and webcam. I've gotten the microphone working on mumble and on sound recorder, and I've gotten the webcam to work on Cheese...but it WON'T work through the flash player//website webcam things. I -have- the flash plugin, and I have drivers installed for my video card.

Can anyone suggest a modestly priced webcam compatible with Ubuntu which I can use with Skype? I have a Winbook webcam which works well with Windows 7 but, not surprisingly, does not work with Ubuntu. (At least, I have not been able to make it work)

I have a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 and I have installed on my Ubuntu the guvcviewer. I need help in setting up the guvcviewer? My Webcam is an updated model of the Logitech C910 which was compatible with the uvcviewer lists, so I am assuming the C920 is also good to go?? I see my face when I open the guvcviewer so it must recognize the webcam.
