OpenSuse 11.3 / failure to mount sd memory card

http://forums.opensuse.org – My SD card is recognised by OS 11.3 if it is inserted at boot up. If I remove it and reinsert it, the devise monitor states 'no devices plugged in'. This is a problem that I have also had (and reported in these forums) with 11.0, 11.1, 11.2. Now I notice that there is a section for 'removable devices' in the system configuration. But even if I click the box 'enable automatic mounting of removable media' and the sub-box 'automatically mount removable media when attached' the SD card is not remounted, there remain 'no devices plugged in'. Is there another setting some (Distributions)

Every time when I mount a usb device (e.g. mp3 player), first I have to click on the device notifier icon in the bottom right corner and choose "Open with File Manager" in order for it to get mounted. Where can I change this?

1. Install dconf-editor by searching dconf-tools in Software Center.

2. Launch dconf-editor and navigate to org -> gnome -> desktop -> media-handling

3. The automount key controls whether to automatically mount media.

I am trying to mount a SD memory card in linux 2.6.15 kernel. The slot I am using is Arasan PCI card which has a SDIO slot. When I inserted the module sdmmc.ko corresponding to Arasan card, in the dmesg I am able to see the card information like manufacture id, memory size, 4 bit etc.

I want to be able to insert a flash drive (or other removable media) and have it mounted without having to click on it in something like Dolphin or manually typing a mount command.
