Openbox and Mythfrontend: video displayed in background

https://bbs.archlinux.org – I switched to Openbox from KDE. Now when I play video with Mythfrontend and change to another desktop I see some pixels changing colour. The pixels were originally black or at least nearly black. This didn't happen before with KDE. I've set Mythfrontend to use VDPAU for video playback. I don't run xcompmgr right now, though I did earlier but closed it because of buggy shadows (Opera Browser had some trouble).Mythtv Frontend: 0.25.3-1-g3800761-dirty (I think it's aur-package, I'm not going to update to 0.26 yet, because my server is running 0.25)Nvidia drivers: 304.60-1 (HowTos)

I'm having issues with video tearing with both my Intel and Nvidia cards.   Seems to be across all applications, though it's particulary bad when using smplayer, mythfrontend or flash videos in Firefox.  Using mythfrontend as a test, I ran with and without optirun.  The Intel card is slightly better than the Nvidia under bumblee, but not by much.  Using primusrun

I have a script that switches between XBMC and mythtv FE that had been working great for a few weeks now. This morning I switched out of XBMC and when the mythtv FE restarted, I got the blue background screen and then the FE (program, not machine) locked up.

I have to disable compositing in xorg.conf for video playback without tearing on my HTPC running vdpau with the binary nvidia drivers. Is it possible to have compositing enabled and still get perfectly smooth video?

Compositing seemed to make remote desktop very laggy also.

As the Title says, I can hear sound watching TV. Also, I can hear sound when I watch internet videos in MythTV. But if I watch videos in a news feed or in the web browser I get no audio. Also, if I quit mythfrontend and watch a video in the chromium web browser I get no audio. However, if I use VLC player to directly watch my hdhomerun stream I get audio.

I'm running .25 - latest code. Sometime in the last 2 weeks an annoying problem started - low audio due to the PCM "slider" in alsamixer being down about the 1/4 level. I move it up - while I'm watching some recorded show - volume increasing - life is good. If I back out of the recording and start it again - the pcm slider is back to around the 1/4 mark. I'm running Ubuntu 11/10.

Internal player refuses 1 year 13 weeks ago

Hi there,

last week i updated my mythbuntu Box to 12.04 und mythbuntu to 0.25 .... And i got following problem:

It seems to do all the recordings etc...but I cant watch anything which needs the internal player...No recs, no vids, no photos....

All I got is a "please wait" on the screen.

Here are some logs from a try...at this try mythfrontend crashes and restarts.

Transcoding error 24 weeks 6 days ago

When I attempt to transcode a video, it fails. My system is Ubuntu Server 12.10 and mythtv v0.26-pre-1367-gf831b99.

a real strange one here and stumped...

upgraded to 12.04 a few days ago (clean install) and everything went fine. have been using it without problems until today. for no reason the remote stopped working in mythfrontend. it won't do anything at all.

lirc is working fine. irw works correctly, as does hulu desktop.

Right, both should be in [community] now. However, myththemes is gone as you're supposed to download new themes from within mythfrontend now
