OPAL 2.0 vs eDrive

http://superuser.com – So I have a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, and there are 2 main options for enabling hardware encryption - either Opal 2.0 or eDrive. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using one compared to the other? Here I've read that enabling eDrive leads to some serious difficulties in reverting the SSD state back to factory defaults, and this does not seem to affect Opal 2.0. Other than that, what are the real benefits of eDrive (from consumer standpoint)? Because as far as I know, eDrive is just Opal 2.0 + IEEE-1667... (HowTos)
