Hello all,I configured KDE to turn off the screen when I close my lid and this part works OK.Problem is, once I move the mouse while the lid is closed the screen wakes up (it's not hard to tell, light gets out from the sides). If I configure the lid action to be sleep, the computer sleeps and wakes up with lid close/open with the mouse not getting in the way.Any idea on how I can configure it
Is there a way to have KDEWallet close when I lock my laptop? Usually I have the wallet set to close when the last program using it exits, but I tend to leave Chromium open so it holds the wallet open as well. I'd like to be able to force the wallet closed when I lock my laptop (or maybe even close the lid). Is there a way to do this?
Hi there, I'm hoping someone can help me out.
As the title states, if i close my laptop lid or lock the screen or even just leave the display to timeout on its own, the next time i go to use the computer i either get a black screen with my mouse pointer visible or i get my background wallpaper with no panel or anything on it.
I am forced to hard reboot.
Any ideas?
Thanks

While the laptop lid is closed, when I remove external power, the laptop does not suspend so i have to open the lid and close to make it suspend.
When the laptop lid is open, then I remove power, then close, it works fine.
This used to work in Ubuntu 11.04.. Didn't work after upgrading to 11.10 and still not working now that I'm on 12.04
Hello,
The title of the thread is likely a bit vague so I'll try to explain this as clearly as possible. Here is what I expect to happen:
Boot laptop > Use laptop > Close lid > Open lid > Enter password > Continue using laptop.
However, what is happening is I open the lid and get the desktop wallpaper, but nothing else.
I am using Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS on an Asus Eee PC. In the Power Settings I have set Ubuntu to "Do Nothing" when the laptop lid is closed. However, when I do close the laptop lid Ubuntu goes into screensaver mode, resets my keyboard layout setting, and requires my password to get back into Ubuntu.
I want to be able to open a Libre Office, close the lid, and type.
For example, in X session, I can use Ctrl-Alt-L to lock the screen, so it would ask for password to unlock and prevent somebody from messing with mine computer.
But if I have an open terminal session on one of the tty's (which I can access with Ctrl-Alt-F1, for example) - then it is not locked, and somebody can still use it to do some harm.
If I'm working on Windows 7 and close the laptop, it logs me out, and when I open it again I can log back in. However, if I close the laptop with Ubuntu running, the screen goes black and it freezes, why?
I am running the latest version of Ubuntu.
Update
Problem solved, i got the answer from ubuntu forums, I had to go to the power settings and choose "do nothing" when the lid is closed
Running 64-bit Ubuntu on my Dell Inspiron 1545. Actually 12.04 had initially solved all my multi-monitor problems...
