http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I got a new video card and downloaded the latest drivers from the nvidia site and installed them outside of yum. (Yeah - probably not the right thing looking back). Now I saw the following messages in the log after booting with the new card. NVRM: Your system is not currently configured to drive a VGA console NVRM: on the primary VGA device. The NVIDIA Linux graphics driver NVRM: requires the use of a text-mode VGA console. Use of other console NVRM: drivers including, but not limited to, vesafb, may result in NVRM: corruption and stability problems, and is not supported. later (HowTos)

I have installed the latests NVIDIA beta drivers (304) from Rawhide recently. However, at the end of my dmesg output, I noticed this:

I've installed Fedora 17 onto an old Samsung X30 laptop, that includes an NVIDIA GeForce FX Go 5200 card. I'm using Nvidia driver version 173.14.36

When I try to suspend or hibernate, the laptop resumes immediately.

I have the following /var/log/message, that shows several errors : ACPI and nvidia related (NVRM, pci_legacy_suspend).

When I install the recommended drivers, even the latest from their ppa, on reboot, xwindows won't start, it just boots to a console login.

If I purge nvidia and reboot, it works with the builtin ubuntu drivers, even 3D, but system reports the experience as 'standard' using driver Gallium 0.4 on NV92 .

I would like to get nvidia drivers working to see if it performs better.
