I've been trying to get my graphic card working under ubuntu and opensuse but to no avail.
First, i tried through additional drivers, but after installation it keeps saying "this driver is activated but not currently in use". That is 3D-accelerated proprietary graphics driver for NVIDIA cards.
Hi, I'm currently unsure as to how I should install nvidia's proprietary drivers on my distro. One method is through nvidia's website itself, the other is through installing certain packages or using the Additional Drivers. The problem is that I couldn't find my graphics driver under 'Additional Drivers', so I made the assumption that my graphics driver was not being used at all.
I have clean Ubuntu 14.04 and using MSI Nvidia GT730 video card.
By default Ubuntu installed nouveau driver and it is in use right now.
I want to install nvidia proprietary driver, but I do not see them in standard locations:
In ubuntu gui tool in system preferences (Software Updates->Additional drivers) drivers are not avaible
"sudo ubuntu-drivers devices" and "sudo ubuntu-drivers list" returns
