Hi! I have a Fujitsu-Siemens V5535 laptop with a SIS Mirage 3+ graphic card, 671/672 chipset. I put ubuntu 9.10 on it, but I am not even able to settle the screen resolution higher than 800/600 . I tried different sollutions that i have found on the linux forum, but I was not successful. Can direct me in the right direction?
So my friend got new laptop with mobility radeon 5470. It's not supported by neither free nor proprietary drivers, so he is stuck with vesa - correct me if I'm wrong.
How can he achieve 1366x768 - resolution native for his lcd panel? Currently we're limited to 4:3, up to 1024x768 - scales ugly.
Trash, USBs, filesystem, etc.. These icons are on my desktop, but I can't for the life of me find where that option is..
I want them gone, anyhow. Any suggestions?
I got to the part where I'm supposed to partition Mint. I've got a 500GB hard drive, and I thought I'd give 300GB to LM--but I'm unclear about using ext2, 3 or 4. What about the swap file? Is that automatic?
Thanks,
Tired of not knowing anything except Windows. Bought a Dell mini with Ubuntu 8.04 installed on it and I'm working on learning Unix from the command line. This Forum ought to be helpful once I get a little further along.

All,
wondering what I need to do to make my VI scripts better formatted. The colorized commands, etc.., and the indents where necessary. Hope this question makes sense.
I am running Fedora and Redhate Ent 5.
