Good Morning,
Google is not helping me at all, here. This is in RHEL 5.5.
First, ntpdate to the remote host works:
$ ntpdate XXX.YYY.4.21
24 Oct 16:01:17 ntpdate[5276]: adjust time server XXX.YYY.4.21 offset 0.027291 sec
Second, here are the server lines in my /etc/ntp.conf.
I have what I believe is a system file, /etc/cron.daily/ntpupdate which runs ntpdate ntp.ubuntu.com daily to sync with the network time.
Ubuntu's clock is off by about a half hour:
Where do I even start troubleshooting this?
It's allegedly being set "automatically from the Internet".
Hi,
Could somebody please explain me.
why is it necessary to execute the "ntpdate" command only when ntp daemon is stopped , and also the probabale solution to reduce the high offset value.
Thanks !!
Laxxi
I am setting up my Ubuntu 10.0.4 server to sync clock with a Windows 2008 AD. As none of the "remote" has a "*" in front (worst it had a blank space in front), does it mean no time sync source is selected? The offset just keep increasing.
sudo ntpdate -b pool.ntp.org
18 Jan 05:53:49 ntpdate[21340]: the NTP socket is in use, exiting
Hi all I have an ubuntu8 server where I have problems with date.
My current date (Europe/Rome) is 9:35
If I do date print me 11:12:34
I have seen my ntp.conf is:
server 0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org
server 1.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org
server 2.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org
server 3.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org
restrict -4 default kod notrap nomodify nopeer noquery
restrict -6 default kod notrap nomodify no
I'm behind a firewall and only have access to ports 80 and port 443.
How can I sync my system's clock?
Here's the command I issue:
sudo ntpdate -u 1.debian.pool.ntp.org
But I keep getting the following error:
no server suitable for synchronization found.
Is there some other program that can sync over port 80/443?
