Samsung will ship its new stylus-equipped 10.1-inch Galaxy Note tablet this month, arming the unit with a 1.4GHz quad core processor, 2GB of RAM, WXGA 1280 x 800 pixel LCD display, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a secondary 1.9 megapixel camera and Google’s (NSDQ: GOOG) Android 4.0. The Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet has been anything but shy, leaking all over the place and posing for a few hands-on pics.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 is Samsung’s next big tablet venture, accor
The Samsung Galaxy Note phone/tablet released last year has been a big success even though most people in the tech community initially counted it out due to its large 5.3″ screen. In the U.S. the note has only been available for AT&T even though it has been rumored to be released on all carriers, but the T-Mobile version is the only one with real photo evidence and FCC approval.
After T-Mobile announced that the Galaxy Note was on its way in the coming weeks we officially have some details about the device. The magenta network will be launching the Galaxy Note on August 8th for $249.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate along with a two-year contract.
The Galaxy Note was a huge success despite many critics saying it was too big. Many wondered if it was a phone or a tablet. Some even called it a phablet, but it didn’t matter because sales were much stronger than anticipated. It’s no surprise that Samsung would try to capitalize on that success by coming out with a full-fledged tablet.
Adding credence to the earlier rumor, the Korean site Digital Daily is reporting that Samsung will be holding a Galaxy Note 2 Unpacked event August 30th, one day before the IFA expo in Berlin, Germany.
Samsung’s original Galaxy Note is an odd device. Many consumers think it’s too big to actually use as an everyday smartphone, and with good reason. Then again, 10 million other people think differently, and the Galaxy Note had no problems moving off the shelves.
The original Samsung Galaxy Note shocked the world with success when most thought it was just a flashing star. It was the first phone to sport a display bigger than 5-inches, 5.3 to be exact. Was it too big, was it a tablet, or was it a phablet? Nobody knew what to think about it, but it didn’t stop consumers from gobbling it up.
