I've been trying to swap CAPS LOCK key with Tab key. So the CAPS LOCK key shouldn't turn on the CAPS anymore, instead, act as the Tab key. Some people told me that I should create a .Xmodmap file in the ~/ directory. But I have no idea what's next.
When I switch to a TTY and turn on caps lock the caps lock LED on my keyboard isn't turning on. On X it works fine. When I activate caps lock and then switch to a TTY and then press caps lock (on the TTY) the LED stays on. (even though the TTY keeps it's own track of the caps lock). So it seems the TTYs don't care about the LED at all.
I want to set the caps lock key working as a modifier (modkey) and layout switcher at the same time.
I want Caps Lock to act as a modkey in awesome in different hotkey combinations, for example, Caps Lock + Enter opens terminal and so on.
When Caps Lock is pressed as a single key, it should act as a layout switcher on its release (by calling function that executes setxkbmap in rc.lua config).
There are a lot of resources on how to swap Caps Lock and Control on Windows, but all of them swap
Caps Lock and Control. What I want is to have Caps Lock as Control without mapping Control to Caps
Lock. In other words, I want to have both Caps Lock AND Control mapped to Control.
how do i synchronize the caps lock numlock and scroll lock status lights of two keyboards one being USB and one being laptops keyboard. Like when i press the caps button on on keyboard both that and the other keyboard's caps lock light turns on and same with num lock and scroll lock
