I'm new here, but not on linux :P
I'm trying to run and load xv6 img that I'm working on to qemu on kubuntu (64bit updated).

I am a new user to slackware. And decided to learn by installing the guest slackware in the slackware host. So I googled and found qemu-kvm the suitable one for the same guest and host os. So downloaded qemu-kvm at this site.
System specification:slackware 14.0
Then un-tarred the tarball and started to compile to get the package.
I`ve searched for many documents about KVM and QEMU and some of the documents say that KVM can not create a Virtual Machine without QEMU, and some of them say that QEMU only handle the I/O task of VMs
so can someone please explain what exactly QEMU does when I combine KVM with QEMU.
I tried to create a VM with KVM, without QEMU and I succeed.

QEMU 1.7.0-rc2 was released yesterday and if all goes according to plan the official QEMU 1.7 release will happen on Wednesday. This next QEMU emulator update that's also relied upon by Linux KVM will bring some exciting improvements.
