I have a Turtle Beach PX3. It's a USB wireless headset. I got the sound working and everything and I can control the volume through the XFCE mixer or the ALSA mixer but I would like to be able to use the physical knob. On Windows 7, it just sends a signal to bump up the volume in the software mixer much like the volume controls on a keyboard would. For the short time I
On a freshly installed lubuntu quantal ppc I have no alsamixer in terminal. I have reinstalled alsa-utils package and ran the command sudo rm /etc/modrpobe.d/blacklist.local.conf which did the trick in 12.04. I still have no sound or audio icon on taskbar, but alsamixer showed up in terminal for a while with a message; "this sound device does not have any controls".
I have a Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi HD USB sound card. Seems to work out of the box when I plug it in, using snd_usb_audio module. When I start alsamixer, in the Playback view it shows two controls: PCM, and PCM Capture Source which allows me to switch between Mic, Line and Phono, three different inputs on the card.

On the sound icon, the slider is at the top (maxed) and in the mixer, I have HD ATI SB(Also mixer) set to highest, and I am on PCM setting.Any help guys?
Hi,
I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 with Gnome Classic interface on my ThinkPad laptop. My sound card is a Intel 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller.
Now, while using ubuntu, the gnome mixer (gnome-sound-applet) disappears randomly and the volume up/down buttons on my pc stop working.
I have recently (?mistakenly) purchased an Arcam rpac USB DAC for my Ubuntu (12.04) PC. I have torn out all but 3 of my hairs trying to get this to work and have had absolutely no luck so far.
I can see the Arcam USB audio device when i run aplay -l, however I cannot see it listed under the Sound settings.
