At first everything was working perfectly, but then after 10 minutes I got a bad sound.
I still get the bad sound and it's not localized to a specific application it's also in the wine test sound function.
wine version: wine-1.3.31
I have the winealsa driver. It's a new interface and all the old fixes doesn't work.
When I run WoW in wine the sound works only if no other sound is working at the moment. If I have a song playin in rhythmbox or sound playin in Vent the Wow sound won't work and after awhile I'm thinkin Vent ends up having errors because of this.
So, I realize this isn't exactly the only Wine and Pulseaudio problem thread out there. I've looked around and seen a few others and tried other solutions with no luck so far. My issue is that I simply have no sound.
This problem seems to be opposite of any other wine sound problems, sound works beautifully in World of Warcraft under wine, but it remove all audio output for other programs such as Mangler and the system sound test program. I have tried starting programs before and after WoW to see if that will make the audio work but that doesn't help, I'm all out of ideas.
im sorry i also posted this in the wine section but it told me to post it here as well..
i am trying to play an old backyard baseball game using wine, and it opens really good, then i get to a point where an error comes up saying no sound card detected. so then i click on the wine glass up top and go to configuration, then to the audio tab, then it says clear as day, Selected driver: (None).
Hey all, I'm having a problem with getting sound to work in Champions Online under Wine.
i am trying to play an old backyard baseball game using wine, and it opens really good, then i get to a point where an error comes up saying no sound card detected. so then i click on the wine glass up top and go to configuration, then to the audio tab, then it says clear as day, Selected driver: (None). How do i select a driver? its the last step to letting me play this game.
I'm trying to run Starcraft through Wine. The sound is all distorted, as if it were playing underwater. Then, about 10 minutes into the game the sound is perfect for 1-2 seconds. Then, there's no sound at all.
I have another sound issue which might give a hint. If I'm playing a video on YouTube, and I open vlc to play a movie, the movie will have no sound.
I recently reinstalled WINE, and immediately noticed severe issues with it. Specifically the audio. I tried playing Fallout: New Vegas, and found that the audio was very weird sounding. It sounded like a scratchy and sped up version of what it should sound like. When Doc Mitchell talks at the beginning, his voice sounds pretty ok, but it's also sped up.
