I've just installed 11.10 on my Thinkpad r61e. Everything works wonderfully except for the sound. I followed everything in the ubuntu help files, and searched the forums for similar problems and nothing worked.
I originally had a different motherboard with the usual HD'97 sort of codec onboard and sound worked fine. Then I upgraded my motherboard to a Gigabyte G1.Sniper 3 which has a Creative CA0132 sound chip. I did not reinstall after the upgrage, but everything worked fine, including the sound. Then maybe a month or so back I did system updates and the sound stopped working.
I have a fresh install of openSUSE 11.2 64-bit with all updates installed, however there is no sound from my Xonar DX sound card. In Hardware Information, the sound card is shown as "Virtuoso 100 (Xonar DX)". How would I get my sound card to work?
Ok sound is working but its horrible, sounds like it overdrives the speakers or sound card its bad can't listen to any thing. Is anyone else having this problem or is just me?
Using the 127 kernel most every thing else works accept the sound.
Recently installed 11.2x64 with KDE4.
Everything is working great (excellent release!) with the exception of sound.
The sound works well when only one app needs it, but sound only works for one app. If another program is open, it has no sound.
Some examples: - If I am listening to an .mp3 with VLC, I don't get sound in a movie in SMplayer.
My media sound doesn't work. My mp3 files play but no sound comes out. My Pandora plays but no sound comes out. My phone rings when someone calls, my recieved texts makes a sound. All works fine but not my media. any solutions?
I installed Ubuntu some days ago. The sound worked perfectly, but today there was a shortcircuit and I lost the sound. I thought it was the sound card, but I started Windows XP and it worked fine. What should I do?
My sound card is an Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97.
Thanks in advance! :)
Heyas
Had installed F18 2-3 weeks ago on my netbook.
Howdy.
I'm having a problem with sound that I've been banging my head against the wall about for a week.
I am not getting sound as a non-root user, but as root the sound works fine. I have tried the usual suspects as mentioned on the forums including checking to see if the sound is turned down, etc. I am getting levels in Volume Control when sound is being played.
