I'm not quite sure what's causing it, but whenever I reboot instead of the login screen, I've got a black screen with the mouse cursor. If I hit ctrl alt f2 I can login, delete .Xauthority and change my home folder ownership to my account. If I do these things, next time I shut down all the way and then boot up, it loads properly. I'm running 12.10 from a clean install.
I just upgraded from 8.04 Ubuntu to 10.04. The mouse cursor works fine during login. As soon as the system switches to the desktop, the arrow cursor "image" disappears (remains working ..you just can't see it). The OS will also randomly shut down requiring a re boot.
I installed 12.04 using WUBI on a working W7 64bit system.
both KB and mouse work perfect during the BIOS boot, and on the bootmgr, I can select Windows 7 or Ubuntu to load.
Once I select Ubuntu, the KB and mouse seem to loose their power (light on the mouse and Numlock leds go off)
After couple of seconds, the screen gets blurry.
Hi all,
As the title suggests ...
To cut a long story short, tried to install ATI graphics, screwed things up on next boot, spent a week trying to fix the purple screen where the login should be, and finally did by removing everything fglrx.
That's all great and I'm getting closer; now when I boot, I get to the login screen, but the keyboard and mouse are totally unresponsive.
I have seen several topics regarding this situation, but none of them truly address my issue (that, or there are no answers that solve the issue.)
Upon booting into Ubuntu 12.04.1 x64 my mouse wired USB mouse (Steelseries Sensei if that makes any difference) either doesn't work or stops working immediately after the grub menu, prior to the login screen appearing.
Has anyone else seen the following issue?
Clean install of Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit on a gazp8, with System76 driver version 3.2.7 installed immediately after the first reboot.
Periodically, on first boot, lightdm will display a black screen and only the mouse cursor is visible. The cursor can be moved, and lightdm is fully fonctional. If I type in my password and hit Enter, I will be logged in.
Hello, I just installed Fuduntu on my system, which already had Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7. Generally things are working fine, but now when I boot Ubuntu before I get to the login screen I am faced with a black screen with mouse cursor, also a 'terminal' blinking cursor. If I type anything a string of symbols come up, and when I press enter I get to the login screen as normal.
I just did a clean install of 11.3 over my dual boot xp/11.2 system and kept my home directory. When I booted the system a console box came up. I then disabled auto login and rebooted. The login screen showed two users, 1- Tom and 2- Root. When I login as Tom the console comes up and when I boot into Root the GUI KDE system comes up.
Hi all,
I recently installed suse 11.2 on my system and during the install the keyboard (Microsoft internet keyboard PS/2) and mouse (Microsoft optical mouse USB with scroll wheel) worked perfectly, but once I reached the login screen they both became unusable.
