No GUI display on console

http://www.linuxquestions.org – Hi, A novice and tried to set up remote desktop from XP workstation using VNC4Server. Have lost GUI interface on server console. I tried to reverse what I did but still no display. I'm using as a web server: Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS Release: 6.06 Codename: dapper uname -r 2.6.15-28-386 the server boots fine then displays a window "Choose a host to connect to..." which just lists a mail server on the network. Don't know where to start looking to solve this. Any help would be appreciated. (HowTos)

I just installed Slackware 12.2 and everything ran smoothly. Except, when i boot into it, login and try and start x, it doesn't work.

Code: Fatal server error: no screens found

Waiting for X srver to begin accepting connections giving up

Running Mandriva One 2010, wireless works great in Live mode. When installed, I can only connect to unsecured networks (BTFon, BTOpenzone) but not to my own BTHomeHub network, which has a WPA key. I guess the problem is something to do with wpa_supplicant, but I'm not 100% sure what to do about it.

I'm using ubuntu, and I'd like my /var/log/syslog file to display unix_chkpwd lines, such as this one (which it doesn't do at the moment) : Feb 6 04:20:40 www unix_chkpwd[20528]: password check failed for user (root) I'd rather not install linux_pam unless really necessary because I already tried it and I've had quite a lot of problems with it.

i installed elastix on a server with a real or static ip address

i can access elastix webased system from inside my lan but i cannot do that from outside (i mean when i try to manage it from another place)

i also use D-Link DSL 2640T with a disabled firewall

Hello, my hp pavilion ze4900 was workign perfectly then i installed some navidia driver thing ( wich wasnt for my cp) and then when i restarted it went blank. I have read various ways to fix this but i am still a linux noob and need much help.

Tired of not knowing anything except Windows. Bought a Dell mini with Ubuntu 8.04 installed on it and I'm working on learning Unix from the command line. This Forum ought to be helpful once I get a little further along.

hi there...

i'm really ashamed to ask this questins here... but how can i get pdns-reursor to start upf with my system

in chkconfig i turned the service on. but when i reboot my server pdns just starts with the command: pdns-resolver --daemon

Not sure what information is needed. Running Ubuntu Karmic UNR, currently downgraded to 2.6.32-17 to try and fix problem but it still persists. Tell me what you need as I am lost.
