no gnome panel
no apparent way of re-adding / recreating
tried reinstalling gnome modules
creating a new user -same issue..

I wonder whether you could help me with a recent issue I have. Over the last few days the gnome-panel won't load when I login on my ubuntu trusty (with gnome desktop). I added gnome-panel to my startup applications, but it doesn't load anyway.
Yesterday all good. Today I login in and I get little task windows that when I enlarge them are blank but have a title bar of "slab". I think those are somehow connected to the gnome-panel which is now gone from my desktop. I finally killed the respawning slab tasks with
let me jump right into it i just i was using black buntu and it was bugging me about upgrading to 11.10 so i did now i cant see my gnome panel i googled like hell and i keep getting all these bull instructions.. im looking for that gnome panel where u can right click on it and u get a opiton to edit the panel..

I'm a bit confused about gnome-fallback and gnome-panel. My Ubuntu-Tweak (from tualatrix) says I'm using gnome-fallback as DE:
I remember I installed gnome 3, which comes with gnome-fallback. But I also have installed gnome-panel (I see it marked at Ubuntu Software Center). Could you explain to me the difference? Or it's the same.
