Has anyone else seen the following issue?
Clean install of Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit on a gazp8, with System76 driver version 3.2.7 installed immediately after the first reboot.
Periodically, on first boot, lightdm will display a black screen and only the mouse cursor is visible. The cursor can be moved, and lightdm is fully fonctional. If I type in my password and hit Enter, I will be logged in.
I installed Ubuntu using WUBI, windows installer.
It asked me to boot and while booting, it offered me to start using Ubuntu. I chose Ubuntu and a screen came saying I can go to options menu using Esc, if I entered Esc, it asks me which mode I'd like. I entered demo mode.
I recently update my system to ubuntu 12.04 and now every other time it hibernates it wont come back. When it wakes up the cursor works but I don't see anything other than that. If I type my password as if there was a login screen and press enter, it acts like it's doing something but still only the cursor visible on screen.
Hi. I am new to Ubuntu and I wanted to try 12.04. I installed Ubuntu in a new system by USB. The installation worked and I got into the login screen. But when I logged in, the screen is blank with purple rectangular artifacts. When I click on the screen, I get random things appearing like distorted text or orange boxes. The cursor changes to different pointers like a text input or window resize.
Newbie Linux user here. I just installed Ubuntu 12.10, dual booting with Windows 8 Preview Release Build 8400 on a Dell Precision 490 workstation with Nvidia Quandro NVS 55/280 PCI graphics card.
I cannot login to Ubuntu - after entering my password and pressing enter, the screen graphics gets garbled for a few seconds, and then the screen goes black showing only the mouse cursor.
I just installed ubuntu onto a blank hard drive with a 10GB partition and it went fine. When I restarted the PC (when it asked), I quickly changed the BIOS so that it booted from the HDD not the disk anymore. However now all I get is a black screen with
BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart
Not sure how to fix this issue?
HP Pavilion PV6700 - AMD 64x2 - 2G ram -
Created live USB, got on and did a complete install. Now whenever I boot up it allows me to log on then goes to a blank screen and loads the mouse then just sits there.
Friends,
Yesterday I managed to install Slackware 13.1 after manually selecting the packages and using cfdisk.
After every thing was done, the message said "Press xyz keys to reboot your system"
(I do not remember what those xyz keys were).
I just installed 25 updates. In them were the raring graphics stack and kernel 3.5.25. I rebooted back and noticed I was now in Unity 2d. This behaves much slower than 3d did and when I tried to log out to lightdm the screen went blank blue.
