Hi everyone,
I know there must be like a billion of this thread but i cant find a solution, i had been hours looking for an answer and im getting frustrated.
So i have a HP PC with a Nvidia GeForce GT 240 card connected to a Samsung HDTV.
The problem is that i don't have sound.
When I boot Ubuntu 12.04 from a USB drive, I am unable to get sound to output through my TV speakers while having my machine connected via HDMI cable. Using Windows 7, the sound switches from the computer speakers to the TV speakers without a problem.
I have a Nvidia Geforce 310M.
Hello all,
OS: Ubuntu 12.04 installed with virtualbox on Windows 7
Headset: Mic plantronics audio 400 DSP
Issues: I cannot use the MIC but I can hear sound from the headset without problems.
Here is the sound settings:
selected Output:
LFE on Separate Mono Ouput/Amplifier Buit-in Audio
Input options:
Vido built-in audio
analog input built-in audio
line in built-in audio
microphone/microphone
I am having some issues with the sound settings in Ubuntu 12.10 on my Dell Inspiron 640m laptop.
Sound works fine out of box, but if I select the item from the "Play sound through" list of the "Output" tab of the sound settings, my account's sound is broken until I remove the ~/.pulse directory.
The item in question is "Digital Output (S/PDIF): Built-in Audio".
Hi all,
Fedora 17 64 bit
System Settings -> Sound -> Output
Choose a device for sound output:
Code:
RS780 Azalia controller Digitaol Stereo (HDMI)
But
Code:
analog output built-in audio
not found
The built-in speaks on LCD display works. But I can't select sound on external speakers
Please advise how to fix it? TIA

I reinstalled Ubuntu 12.04 on my laptop because the Unity desktop was freezing. Reinstalling 12.04 seems to have fixed the freezing problem, but now the audio does not work. When I go to Settings>Audio and under the Output tab it only has the option for Digital Output.
I've been running Ubuntu on my HP Touchsmart IQ504 (a desktop) for two or three years, and I've been through two or three versions of Ubuntu in that time (I'm now on 64-bit, Unity 12.04).
The internal speakers have never worked.
My sound settings for output is showing Digital Output (S/PDIF) while I am thinking this should be (Speaker) however, there is nowhere to change it. Alsamixer screenprint below:
My audio/Alsainfo is @

Thanks in advance.
I have two different sound devices for output:
"Internal Audio Analog Stereo" for headphones
"High Definition Audio Controller Digital Stereo (HDMI)" for speakers
For example: if I open a music player and start a song, it plays out fine from speakers. But when I try to control volume it controls "Internal Audio Analog Stereo" instead of HDMI.
